"Personalities" is a series of paintings that explores the private side of a woman; these works depict those delicate necessities that women like to keep close by, but also under wraps. The purse as I see it is a symbol of social status, a vital companion to everyday activity. The intriguing part of all these paintings is that I look at the purse not for what it looks like from the outside, but for what it contains. This is when I, as a curious man, get to peer inside the female's private life. It is a very discreet and smooth way to learn about women's choices, vices, loves and many other surprises. I use the purse as a symbol that represents what its happening here in America, and in some works it is shorthand for what is happening in other countries around the world.
